Since the beginning of March 2024, the Department of Surgery for Newborns and Young Children has been operating at the Kyiv Perinatal Center. Highly specialized surgical care is provided here for children from birth to 6 years old.
In addition, the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care for Newborns and Young Children with a mobile neonatology team has been opened in the surgical building.
The mobile neonatology team provides transportation of newborns in critical condition. The presence of our own resuscitation vehicle and a highly qualified team of doctors allow us to transport newborns from any maternity hospital in Kyiv around the clock to provide specialized surgical care.
Doctors of the Department of Surgery for Newborns and Young Children consult and examine children with suspected surgical pathology, who are brought by ambulance from any area of our city. If necessary, hospitalization and necessary treatment are provided.
Multidisciplinary team
After prenatally detected fetal defects, a multidisciplinary team consultation is conducted, consisting of an obstetrician-gynecologist, pediatric surgeon, neonatologist, and anesthesiologist. An action plan is developed for the management of pregnancy and childbirth. A route for further surgical treatment is also developed, depending on the complexity of the pathology. This can be both in the first hours of the baby’s life and in the early neonatal period.
